Yeah, some get big as snappers.

Soft Shells get way bigger than Snappers, the Soft Shells over here outgrow the Snappers over here, on average the Snappers are like 13-15 inches, while the Soft Shells are 18-22 inches on average, the largest Soft Shell I saw was 25 inches, but than again these are the Florida Soft Shells we are talking about which are some of the biggest Soft Shells, the Spiny Soft Shells are on average about the same size as Snappers. There is a rumor that Florida Snappers do grow larger than Common Snappers, while the Average for Common Snappers is 9-12 inches, the average for Florida Snappers are 13-15 inches. So that is some size difference. The Peninsula Cooters how ever out grow our Florida Snappers by a lot. :D

A_rice how is the softie doing? And yes these guys need spacious tanks. Females full size need a pond. Males can be kept indoors with larger tanks. Unless you know about water quality and there requirements, I don't recommend the average turtle keeper to own one.

Saw a soft shell about a foot long at a pet store the other day. They had him in a 40 gallon with no basking area and no lighting. Water seemed good but uhg I felt so bad
