Does anyone have pictures of hybrid turtles? Such as a cross bred painted turtle?

I didn't think it was possible but turtlesource [not reputable] has some pictures of a map turtle cross bred with a red ear slider that resulted in this offspring.








I thought turtles have to be of the same family species to reproduce.

This is a pic of a RES/YBS hybrid that's at the reptile rescue. If I was seriously considering getting another turtle, I would scoop him up in a minute

I've seen people mate different kind of turtles in TV but they say, the hybrid will not live as long as their parents.

Don't breed them if you are not sure they can lay eggs properly I am still feeling sad for Kame

There are lots of crosses that you can make with turtles if you really tried. As long as there in the family and then go down to sub familys you get an even greater chance.

If you look up those turtles in all those photos the two turtle crosses that made them were in the same subfamily- Deirochelyinae. Wood and the side necks are in different subfamilys

I just got a turtle two days ago in Panama City on the way home from vacation, and I'm not sure what kind of turtle it is. The man that ran the store was very hard to understand, so I just got a care sheet, a small portable aquarium, and some food from the shop and figured I would do some research when I got home... But it hasn't turned out do well. The care sheet I got only told me when to feed it, it likes to be in the sun, and when to replace the water, so I have no real knowlegde of how to care for my turtle. :/ I found pictures of "Concentric DBT x False Map Turtles" and they seem to match my turtle quite well except for the fact that my turtle has dots on the bottom of his shell opposed to what is shown in this picture: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/world_ ... also, my turtle is more of a greener color than the turtles in the pictures I saw. Could it be a difference in age? Maybe he's still young...? @HRH<3LES<3MP: It looks like you have a red eared slider. Read the content of the website this forum is hosted on for a ton of helpful info. Please remove the gravel asap, and look into purchasing a real tank for your little guy.
