I didn't think it was possible but turtlesource [not reputable] has some pictures of a map turtle cross bred with a red ear slider that resulted in this offspring.
I thought turtles have to be of the same family species to reproduce.

If you look up those turtles in all those photos the two turtle crosses that made them were in the same subfamily- Deirochelyinae. Wood and the side necks are in different subfamilys
